MEMpark, On-Airport Parking for $6 a Day Opens

The total public automobile parking experience at Memphis International Airport has been transformed and is now branded MEMpark with the opening of the new seven-level consolidated parking and car rental facility north of the original three-level short-term and long-term garage. The first phase of the Ground Transportation Center at Memphis International Airport opened just before the Thanksgiving holiday. The new economy parking offering, which occupies levels three though seven of the structure, gives travelers 4,500 secure parking spaces for just $6.00 a day–lower priced than off-airport lots. Economy parking at MEMpark is conveniently located only a short moving walkway from the entrance to the airport terminal.

To promote the new parking and the low economy parking rates, the airport has launched an information campaign building on the "Park Smarter. Not Farther." concept, with billboard messages, radio ads, print ads, and video spots on the Airport's CNN gate monitors. With parking at $6.00 and such easy access to the airport itself, customers can literally "Ditch the Shuttle" that has traditionally been associated with on and off airport parking. In fact, two of the motivations behind the Ground Transportation Center were environmental and customer service. Economy parking at MEMpark eliminates the need for any polluting, unpredictable and often inconvenient pick-up and drop-off shuttle traffic for travelers. more »

Family Restrooms Added at Memphis International Airport

Memphis International Airport has opened 18 new Family Restrooms in time for the busy holiday travel period.

The single-stall restrooms were added for those people who need assistance when using the restroom. Family restrooms provide privacy for people with disabilities as well as flexibility for parents traveling with children of the opposite sex. They are located on both the non-secure (lobby, and baggage claim levels) and the secure side (B-Concourse) of the Terminal. For a complete list of locations visit:

Helping Service Animals with Their Basic Needs

Service animals need to take care of their basic biological functions while traveling, just like people do. To assist the animals and their handlers, three new Service Animal Relief Areas (SARAs) are now available on the secure side (B-Concourse) of the Terminal at Memphis International, providing time-saving convenience for passengers traveling with leashed or harnessed service animals. The new SARAs alleviate the need to take service animals outside the terminal and return through a security line again to make a flight connection.

Pet and Service Animal Relief Areas are still also provided outside the terminal in the grassy areas to the side of Baggage Claim A and C. For a complete list of locations visit:

Eatocracy Blog from CNN Highlights Memphis Airport Dining

Jim Neely's Interstate BBQ at Memphis International Airport was recently highlighted in a Food & Wine restaurant editor's blog about the nation's top airport dining spots. In the blog, Neely's was highlighted as, "The ribs at Jim Neely's are as good as I have had in an airport. BBQ snobs may quibble, but they really hit the spot if you are a hungry, weary road warrior who is bored with the usual food court crap."
