Airport Gives WWII Veterans Honorable Send-Off for a Very Emotional Trip
The Airport gave a local group of 31 WWII veterans and their families and friends a patriotic send off on a trip to visit the National WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. in May. As the group entered the terminal they were greeted by flag-waving employees; red, white and blue balloons; a band playing patriotic music; and a color guard formed by Patriot Guard motorcyclists.
This is the second group of local veterans in the past year who have made a trip organized by Forever Young, a local non-profit organization with a mission to honor senior citizens by helping them fulfill their dreams and give them hope for the future.
