Men of Excellence
MSCAA’s own Richard White and Commissioner Herb Hilliard were named Men of Excellence for 2010 by the Tri-State Defender newspaper. The local publication annually recognizes African-American men who motivate and inspire others through their vision and leadership, exceptional achievements, and participation in community service.
Richard and Herb were selected as 2010 honorees based on their proven success within their profession and industry, their positive image as role models whose contributions encourage others, and their active involvement in the community.
Bernal E. Smith, II, president and publisher of the Tri-State Defender acknowledged these leaders as among the positive forces that make Memphis a great city and that his publication is proud to be taking the lead in recognizing their contributions to the growth and betterment of our community.
