Larry Cox Celebrates 25th Anniversary as Airport President and CEO
This month, Larry Cox is celebrating his 25th anniversary as Airport President and Chief Executive Officer. Cox has been employed by the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority since 1973 and was appointed President and CEO in April of 1985.
During his time with the airport, Cox has been recognized both locally and nationally as a leader in the airport industry. His dedication and commitment to MSCAA is undeniable, and he has been credited with outstanding achievements throughout his career.
In 1994, Cox was named “Airport Manager of the Year” by the Southern Region of the Federal Aviation Administration. In 2001, Cox received the “Distinguished Service Award” from the American Association of Airport Executives, and in 2004, was presented the “Chairs” award by the same organization. That same year, Memphis Business Journal named Cox one of the “25 Most Influential People in Memphis,” and in 2005, Cox was inducted into the Tennessee Aviation Hall of Fame.
