Study Shows $28.6 Billion Annual Economic Impact From Memphis International Airport

According to a new economic impact study commissioned by the Memphis–Shelby County Airport Authority and prepared by the Sparks Bureau of Business and Economic Research/Center for Manpower Studies at Fogelman College of Business and Economics, The University of Memphis, Memphis International Airport has a total economic impact on the community of $28.6 billion.

Delta To Add First Non-stop Flights to
Love Field

Starting in July, Delta Air Lines will add three daily nonstop, round-trip flights between Memphis International Airport and Dallas’ Love Field. Customers flying between Love Field and Memphis will have connecting opportunities to 237 peak-day flights with 90 worldwide destinations.

Delta’s new flights will be the only nonstop service between Love Field and Tennessee and expands on other recently announced new routes between Memphis and Texas. The airline added new nonstop flights to Memphis from McAllen and Lubbock in March and April, respectively. The Memphis-Love Field flights will be operated by Delta Connection carrier Pinnacle Airlines using 50-seat Bombardier
CRJ200 regional jets...

Memphis International Airport's busy passenger walkway connectors between concourses A, B and C have a bright new look with 45 new works of art created by talented students from Memphis City and Shelby County Schools. The masterpieces were created as part of the Airport's annual art contest entitled Memphis, Its Music, Sights and Sounds.

The contest provides students the opportunity to turn what they love about their city into works of art that everyone can enjoy – whether you live in Memphis or another city. $8-a-Day Economy Parking Lot Launched at Memphis International Airport

Memphis International Airport has officially converted its West Lot long–term parking into an economy lot featuring $8–a–day rates. The West Lot is conveniently located to the right of the airport roadway just before a motorist reaches the terminal for drop-off or pick–up. The lot had been used as a long-term full-price parking lot. The $8 rate makes the on–site parking at the airport is comparable to the independent operators located off airport property. The Economy West lot will feature airport security, a well–lit environment, and shuttle service to and from the terminal at intervals of every six to 10 minutes. New St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Exhibit

Visitors to the Danny Thomas Terminal (Terminal B) at Memphis International Airport will be able to learn more about the remarkable work of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital thanks to a new exhibit which was unveiled on June 12.

The display highlights several of the research concepts on which St. Jude Children's Research Hospital focuses. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude Children's Research Hospital freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world.
