Airport Board Members are High Flyers

Two Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority board members have received recognition for their commitment to the industry and our community.

Airport Commissioner Ruby R. Wharton was inducted into the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Hall of Fame for her long-term, historical and profound contributions toward the inclusion of more minority and women-owned businesses in airport contracts and employment opportunities.

The induction occurred during AMAC’s 25th Annual Airport Business Diversity Conference held this summer in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mrs. Wharton has been an airport commissioner since the early 1990’s and during that time has been a dedicated leader in the mission of AMAC and has helped make Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority a model for minority inclusion among our nation’s airports.

Airport Chairman Arnold Perl has made the 2009 Power 100  list of standout Tennesseans published by BusinessTN  magazine. The top movers and shakers across the state are selected annually for this list and represent those who actively exercise their power and bear great responsibility in Tennessee’s business structure.

A nationally recognized labor attorney with Ford & Harrison law firm, Perl also chaired the New Arena Public Building Authority which was responsible for FedEx Forum.
