Paperless Boarding Arrives At Memphis International Airport
Travelers flying with Delta, Northwest and Delta Connection can now use their mobile devices for paperless check-in and boarding. This new service not only saves time for passengers, it also is good for the environment.
Paperless boarding uses mobile technology to create a barcode that is encrypted with a passengerís flight and security information. When passengers book their flight, they have the option to sign up for paperless boarding. The airline will e-mail a link to their phone or handheld computer that provides the barcode and flight information. When passing through security, passengers will simply scan the barcode at the new electronic readers installed at all Memphis International security points.
Passengers with electronic passes are required to show photo identification the same as those with printed passes.
How it works:
Customers traveling in the United States and checking in for a nonstop flight from Memphis International Airport may simply download their boarding pass to their mobile devices via nwa.com or delta.com and proceed directly to the airport security screening area.
Customers checking bags should drop their bags at the baggage drop counter location prior to proceeding to the security checkpoint.
At the security checkpoint, Transportation Security Administration officers will scan the electronic boarding pass, check the customerís ID and process the customer through security.
Customers can then proceed to their departure gate, present their electronic boarding pass to the gate agent at boarding time and board with their designated zone.
