Memphis International Airport Notes

October 2007

New Concessions

Passengers can enjoy a variety of new food and beverage concessions at Memphis International Airport. In September, Anton AirFoods opened Ciao Gourmet Market Kiosk in Concourse B. Located near Gate B-19, the new concession was inspired by the traditional food exhibition found in Ciao Restorante and market piazzas and town centers all over Italy and Europe.

The menu is a collaboration of premium-level food and packaged products for on-the-go consumption, with careful attention to health and nutrition. The nutritional food labels will be monitored closely for accuracy. Offerings include fresh salads, gourmet sandwiches, cheeses, breads, and low-fat premium snacks. For those passengers looking for a little indulgence, specialty chips, organic dried fruit and nuts, gourmet popcorn and even Ciao's own chocolate bar are available for purchase. Memphis International Airport is one of only four airports in the United States to open this new HMS Host gourmet market and health food concept. The concept is still in the test market stage which will allow for more growth and input.

DNC Travel Hospitality Services opened Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits in Concourse A by Gate A-21. In addition to the typical mild or spicy chicken fare, Popeye's offers fried shrimp, fried catfish, and a full assortment of signature sides including red beans and rice, Cajun rice, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, fries, mac and cheese, corn on the cob, and green beans. Desserts include Mardi Gras Cheese Cake and Fried Pies. Something that separates the Airport's Popeye's from other Popeye's is that this one offers a full breakfast menu beginning at 5 a.m. It includes biscuits, gravy, and a breakfast platter.

The restaurant serves food cafeteria-style and packages it to go; however, there is some table seating for dining-in.

Starbuck's lovers will be able to get their favorite coffee in two more locations by Thanksgiving. The new Starbuck's locations will replace the former Coffee Beanery locations in Ticket Lobby B and in the passenger connecter next to Security Screening Checkpoint B.

The new additions enable passengers to find a Starbucks in five locations throughout the Airport. The Starbucks in Concourse B at the Rotunda location is one of two Anton AirFood Concessions at Memphis International Airport that received the company's corporate award for delivering exceptional customer service for 13 consecutive months. The sales associates were evaluated by an independent company that used seven criteria to measure performance. This Starbucks location and Einstein Bagels were the only two Anton Airfood Concessions to sustain a 100 percent rating throughout the 13 months.
