Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Chairman Receives Award from Japan
Arnold Perl, chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority has been recognized by Japan with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, for his efforts to strengthen Tennessee's ties to Japan.
Perl was recognized for his work in co-founding the Japan-Tennessee Society and in organizing the Japan-America Society of Tennessee. Masaru Sakato, Consul General of Japan in New Orleans, presented the award to Perl on June 5 at a special luncheon held by the Memphis Regional Chamber to honor Perl's achievement.

Perl recently was asked to write an article for the Spring 2007 Edition of CCH issues in Aviation Law and Policy. His article "From the Economic Engine of the Region to America's Aerotropolis, The Remarkable Business of Memphis International Airport" explores the management philosophy and leadership that have made Memphis International Airport the world's largest cargo airport, allowed Memphis to enjoy more passenger air service per capita than most any other American city, and caused experts to acknowledge Memphis International as America's best example of an Aerotropolis today.
Perl is an attorney and partner of the Memphis office of Ford & Harrison, LLP, a national labor and employment law firm.

Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette medal.
The Order of the Rising Sun or Kyokujitsu Sho is a Japanese Order, established in 1875 by Emperor Meiji of Japan. It is the second most prestigious Japanese decoration after the Order of the Chrysanthemum (Kikka Sho).
