Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Chairman Wins Local and National Awards
Arnold Perl, chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority has been recognized both locally and nationally for his efforts to increase diversity. In May, Perl was one of the recipients of the 2006 Diversity Memphis Humanitarian Awards for his extensive leadership and commitment to minority inclusion. He has been tireless in his efforts to create a more united community in Memphis. Diversity Memphis is dedicated to bringing people together regardless of cultural, religious or racial differences and promotes tolerance and respect.
Perl also was inducted into the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Hall of Fame on June 12 during the 22nd Annual AMAC/FAA Conference & Exhibition in Jacksonville, Florida. This honor was given for Perl’s exceptional long-term and profound contributions toward the inclusion of more minority- and women-owned businesses in airport contracts and employment opportunities. Perl has continuously spearheaded efforts for minority inclusion in the airport industry throughout his 23 years with the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. His presentation on minority involvement in the airport industry to the 21st AMAC/FAA Airport Business Diversity Conference in 2005 was heralded for its insight and progressive leadership.
