Check the Status of Flights Online With Flight Tracker

Taking a trip to the airport to meet and greet family or to jet-off to some 90-plus potential destinations has become much easier thanks to the new flight tracker on the Memphis International Airport’s website.

The flight tracker, powered by Flight View, enables airport customers to check the status of their flights for two hours before and after a flight is scheduled. Visitors to the Memphis International Airport’s web site can check the local departure and arrival times of flights and the estimated time until arrival. Once a flight is listed as in air people can view an accurate flight map, type of aircraft, ground speed, and even the aircraft’s altitude… more »

New Tennessee Air National Guard Facilities at Memphis Airport Will Meet 9/11 Anti-Terrorism Standards

Work on the new Tennessee Air National Guard (TN ANG) Facilities is underway. The TN ANG move is scheduled to be completed in 2008 when new hangars and support buildings, aircraft apron and taxiway, plus up-to-date fuel storage and refueling systems will be ready for occupancy. In total the base will consist of approximately 380,000 square-feet of new buildings.

The additional space will enable TN ANG to accommodate more of the C-5 Galaxy, the largest plane in the U.S. Air Force Fleet. A total of nine C-5s will be eventually delivered to TN ANG.

The new 118 acre base will be the first to be fully constructed to the government’s post 9/11 anti-terrorism and force-protection standards.

Plenty of Airport Parking Available for Spring Break Travelers

Once mid-terms are over students’ thoughts turn to their spring break plans. Whether vacation plans include skiing in the mountains or a week of sun, sea and sand, students need to plan ahead when they come to the Airport. The month of March rivals the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays for the number of air travelers concentrated over a few weeks. However, the Airport should have plenty of parking for the surge of students exiting the local area for some R & R.

Students should allow plenty of extra time before their flight departure to find parking, check-in with luggage, and go thru security screening as many flights will be booked at full capacity. To save time, students can print their boarding pass online and avoid lines at check-in.

For the best parking rates on overnight parking visitors should use the Long Term Parking areas.
