Airport Connector Road Named For Authority’s Chairman Emeritus

October, 2005  -   The City of Memphis approved the naming of the Airport Connector Road to Jim McGehee Parkway at the October 11 City Council meeting.

Mayor Willie Herenton presented Mr. McGehee a replica of the signage that will mark the Parkway from Plough Boulevard south of Winchester Road to the Airport. 

Attending the ceremony and reception afterwards were numerous family, friends, city officials, and former and current Airport Authority board and staff.

The roadway naming will be a lasting testimony to Mr. McGehee’s contributions to the growth, development and success of Memphis International Airport and its importance as the economic engine of the Memphis and Mid-South community.

Mr. McGehee served as Chairman of the Airport Authority from 1981—1996.
