Memphis Adds Wi-Fi Availability

Memphis International this week announced the availability of Sprint PCS wi-fi access in all passenger areas at the airport, including gate areas, restaurants, airline club rooms, ticketing and baggage claim.

"This is a major service enhancement for the 11 million annual passengers that use Memphis International Airport ," said Larry Cox, A.A.E., president and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority . "As the only major hub airport in the southeastern U.S. to provide this service, we believe more air travelers will choose to connect through Memphis and experience the freedom of this new technology."

Customers will need a wi-fi card or mobile device embedded with wi-fi technology to take advantage of the service. Wi-fi users are greeted by the Memphis International portal page that provides free information, including real-time flight information.

Memphis International is the latest airport to offer Sprint wi-fi service. Others include Kansas City International, Salt Lake City International, Louisville International, William P. Hobby Airport (Houston), Bush Houston Intercontinental and Milwaukee's General Mitchell International.
